What can you expect as a Moana Youth member?
Are you 13 by 1st October? If yes, you will be in the Moana Youth team.
We can help you get your Surf Rescue Certificate (SRC), this will mean that you are able to patrol the beach as a lifesaver and take part in all age appropriate surf sports.
We hold different events throughout the year and have lots of fun. We also hold several weekly training sessions.
When you are 14 you can start the Bronze Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award. If successfully completed, this award equates to 10 Stage 1 SACE points.
When you are 15 you can complete the Bronze Medallion and several other Surf Lifesaving awards. You can also start the Silver Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award. If you have completed the Bronze DofE award, this will give you a further 10 Stage 1 SACE points. You can also start gaining qualifications which can count towards a Certificate III in Public Safety (Aquatic Search and Rescue).
When you are 16 you can complete the SLSSA Pool Life Guard course, the Silver Medallion in Aquatic Rescue and the Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award. You could now be well on your way to gaining a Certificate III in Public Safety (Aquatic Search and Rescue).
